TWD - Coconut Butter Thins

No cookie pictures tonight because I forgot to take them, and now they're All Gone. Drew and I usually take turns bringing in baked goods at work, so our respective coworkers don't get fat. This week was his turn, and reported that all the cookies were gone by lunchtime.

The recipe was awfully tasty! But next time, I'll probably chill the dough a little longer and roll it out with flour and a rolling pin. It ended being awfully sticky when I pulled it out of plastic bag. After the first pan, I just loaded up all the dough in a bowl and busted out my ice cream scoop to make traditional drop cookies. I definitely made a mess and once again, dirtied up a lot of dishes, but nevertheless, the recipe is a keeper.

TWD - Blueberry Crumb Cake

For my inaugural Tuesdays with Dorie post, I made a Blueberry Crumb Cake - in the wrong-sized pan. It was overflowing the top, but the folks at work didn't seem to mind too much. It was pretty much gone by the end of the day. One question - do TWD recipes usually involve so many dishes to clean? It was pretty daunting to get the cake in the oven, then turn around and see a huge sinkful of dishes waiting for me. Sigh. Such is life. But I will persevere on. The cake was delicious and definitely worth the extra work.

Official Seal of Approval

So it's not exactly the Good Housekeeping seal of quality, but Gunther likes to test out all my quilts before they're officially done. Anytime I pull out a quilt to work on, even if half of it's in my lap, he comes over, steps on it, turns around three times, then plops down. I found these photos when I was cleaning up my computer files, and they're a little too cute to pass up.

Whoa, What just happened?

Can it be? I'm posting 2 days in a row! I went up to Virginia last Friday to the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Show and took tons of photos. There were just so many beautiful quilts with incredible machine quilting, and I went a little nuts with the camera. I bought a little bit, too, but not too much, since times are lean, and I'm on a fabric diet of sorts. One of the booths had all their layer cakes on sale 25% off, and I couldn't help but pick up a pack of Merry & Bright by Sandy Gervais. With that, maybe I can get a jump on holiday sewing for 2009. I'm thinking maybe a bowtie quilt? We'll see. I will probably change my mind between now and the time I finally get around to it.

Anyways, here is a link to the all the photos I took at the show. Most quilts have at least 2 photos - one from far away for the overall effect and another photo to more closely examine the machine quilting.
Enjoy!

Sneak Peeks

Gah, I've been a very. bad. blogger. and have not posted anything in months. I keep telling myself I'll take outdoor on the weekends of the few quilts I've finished over the past few months. Alas, it's been gross, rainy, and yucky the past few weekends. I'm woefully ashamed of my dirty apartment, but hopefully the photos below don't reveal too much dirt and grime. If it ever stops raining here, I'll post close-ups soon!!!
