Resolution Update and my first Giveaway!

Since yesterday marked the end of the first quarter of 2011, here's a quick snapshot of how I have (not) been keeping up with my resolutions so far this year. Check out Elizabeth's blog post from yesterday to check out other people's progress )

#1 - Wrap up some unfinished business - Like I mentioned earlier in the week, I basted a few tops from my pile o' tops.

to be quilted

#2 - Make a couple of quilt tops, using books from my collection - Does buying fabric for this resolution count? If so, then I bought a super-cute stack of these Fig Tree fabrics at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Show last month. I'm thinking this stack of fabric might be ideal for a pattern from my Spice of Life book.

also to do?

#3 - Finish the 3 scrap quilts I've started, and then make 2 more scrappy tops - {crickets chirping}

#4 - Keep cranking out the Just 1 Charm Pack Tutorials - I can't say that I'm really cranking them out. It's probably more of a slow ooze at the rate I'm moving. But the quilt I've been machine quilting this week is for a charm pack tutorial. It's coming soon, I promise.

fandango - get this party started!
Is anyone out there sticking to your New Years Resolutions? Even if you're not, let me know, so I don't feel like such a slacker,

Finally, I bring you my first ever giveaway! Today's post marks my 200th post, so I'm giving away a charm pack and a jelly roll - each one goes to a different lucky winner! The charm pack is 12 Days of Christmas by Kate Spain for Moda, and the jelly roll is Spring Meadow by Cheri Strole for Moda.

  1. I always wish I would lose weight. This year I thought I could go a few months without buying more fabric (but sadly, no).

  6. No resolutions this year. I did pick a WORD to instill in myself for the year. CALM which I made a whole quilt to drive the word home. It's totally working!

I did give up "blame" for Lent, plus took on finishing my Jesus study before Easter Sunday. Both are going well. The giving up blame is awesome. I can't blame anyone or take any blame on. My soul feels lighter with that one change.

  7. The resolution I wish I had made (and kept)....hmmm...I really need to exercise and get back in shape. Just to be fit, and able to do more. Sigh. OK, I'll pretend I DID make it, and get to work! LOL

  11. I have a few resolutions I'm doing ok with, and a few that i'm doing not-so ok with. I'm actually losing weight still, and still running 3 times a week, but my sewing room has had nothing productive from it lately. boo.

  12. I wish I had said that I would clean EVERYTHING more often... or set a schedule...

  25. Yes, I think buying fabric for the Spice of Life quilt counts! That quilt will be lovely with the Patisserie fabrics! One of my resolutions was to finish two quilts to every new one started. Yeah, no so much. But I AM busy doing things and have been working on UFOs, so I'm whittling away!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Congrats on your 200th post. Those fabrics look gorgeous. Thanks for the chance to win.

In regards to New Years Resolutions, I can't keep them, so I don't make them. =)

    ReplyDelete
  27. I made a resolution to finish one UFO a month this year. Yea, what month is this? Already off track. LOL! Thanks for the opportunity to win. I love that jelly roll.

    Thanks for the giveaway chance!

  30. I've quit making resolutions because I can't seem to keep one. But, if there was one I'd really like to make and keep, it would be to lose weight.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I've tweeteed about your giveaway (@CraftyGardenMom)

    ReplyDelete
  32. My New Year's resolution was to be more purposeful. To do things with a purpose and hopefully get some things done. This has also translated into only buying fabric with a purpose, I have too much in my stash and this has helped me not go overboard!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I wish I had made the resolution to keep my sewing room neat and tidy. But then I know why I don't make a resolution - I just can't seem to keep them and this one would be no exception. Thanks for the opportunity to enter your giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I have tweeted about this great giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't think I've ever made a New Year's Resolution but if I had it would only be about losing weight and I'm sort of always trying to do that anyway do that would be useless.

  38. I avoid resolutions like the plague -- too much stress to try to keep them!! But, since I have actually lost weight since January, I sort of wish that I had formally made a resolution just to say that I had fulfilled it -- sort of reverse psychology! LOL

  42. I learned years ago not to make New Years resolutions, so, I guess you could say that I wish I HAD made a resolution. I just break them anyways. I DO intend to get several projects done this year. I even have deadlines I can't break, since they involve other people. Maybe that is a resolution.

  46. Congratulations on your 200th+ post. Many more to follow.
I wish I had set some goals! Really somehow, since assuming my (old) age, I do not have that many goals! Maybe a cruise, weather permiting.
I love the dog's concentration on whatever was happening there! Cute.

  88. I don't usually make New Year's resolutions because it's a perfect set-up for failure. That said, if I were to have made one, it would be to finish the home improvement projects that have been needling me for 2 years. Thanks!

  92. Resolutions I wish I'd made....maybe to take a fabulous vacation?? Of course, I'd have had to resolve to WIN the vacation too! My resolution list is always short, since I rarely keep them. Sad, but true!

  93. I follow you in my Google Reader!

    ReplyDelete
  94. I purposely did NOT make any resolutions this year. I am terrible at keeping them! Which, I think, is pretty normal, so you are in good company. :)

    ReplyDelete
  95. Unmade resolution: I've seen things online about tracking yards of fabric "in" and yards of fabric "out" to tame your stash. I really should have gotten on that bandwagon. I must be buying before all the big price increases come! Plus there are so many beautiful fabrics out there!

    ReplyDelete
  96. I avoid the whole resolutions thing. I have broken too many so I avoid it all together. LOL!
I do try to commit to goals for the year. I commited to make my own version of Elizabeth as well as wrap up Opening Day. It's funny that you had focused on those two particular patterns on your resolution post. I should have commited myself more fervently to lose weight! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Oh! And did I mention that I do follow you on my Google Reader? I do!
    :)

    ReplyDelete
  98. I am keeping my resolution to do everything that makes me smile this year.

  101. Resolutions? Well, I resolved to lose weight (which I haven't) and I resolved to only stitch from my stash and not buy anything new (which I haven't done either). Not much good at this resolution business!

    ReplyDelete
  102. I would love to be entered in your giveaway! I'm your new follower and I posted about your giveaway on my blog!

I wish I promised myself to save money, at least 10% of every pay... I guess isn't to late! Thank you for making me to think about it!
